The city of Puno is one of the most interesting places of PerĂº because of it has beautiful places and has a great history.
The city has the privilege of being located on the shares of Laake Titicaca in Puno Bay on the central part and is sunrrounded by hills, on altitud of 3810-4050 meters above sea level. Puno is one of the highest cities in the world and the fifth worldwide, in addition to the world's highest navigable lake.
My girl and me choose to visit this place because of we wanted to see the lake Titicaca, full of magic and mysticism, which by its geographical location is strategic for the passage of tourist going to Arequipa or La Paz Bolivia to Cusco.
We arrived to Puno from Arequipa on a journey of about seven hours on a bus from Cruz del sur Line, service I highly recommend so the buses are modern, very comfortable and the staff is very profesional and nice.
In the city we stayed at the Lobos Inn, hotel located on Liberty Street 45. The instalations is modest but with all the amenities: hot water, TV, internet, cleaning rooms, in addition to good location and attention for only 30 soles per night.
As soon as we init to explore the city felt the effects of altitude when we had begun to walk down, people recommend us eat homemade sweets prepared from coca leaves as a remedy, the taste of candy is like mate leaves tea. You can't visit PerĂº and not try coca tea.
On out tour, we had the opportunity to see the floating islands of the Uros, inhabited by people who have been living there for more than 400 years, Taquile Island and the Chulpas of Sillustani.
In
the next installment I'll present some stories of our trip and the
places that we liked, as well some tips for future travelers who venture
to know this beautiful city.
